Busted!
(2006-12-16)
I was messing around with my HVPS for no apparent reason, and when I first turned it on I realized the voltage regulator was busted. I could only switch between the two secondaries of the transformer: about 17 and 35 volts. It was sorta wimpy on 17 (I usually used around 20-25), so I decided to switch it up to 35. It worked great, for about 4 seconds, before it just died. I think I blew out the regulator even more. It's possible that any number of my components blew out, I was overloading pretty much everything by a factor of 2. So, I am going to build a new one, that works a LOT better, because it uses a 555 to pulse the primary instead of the somewhat random feedback coil. This should power my lifter very well. Speaking of the lifter, A long time ago I was messing around with my rubber band gun, and accidentally shot it. It is only made of 1.5mm thick balsa wood, so it pretty much died. I will remake the frame too. Unfortunately, most of my components are in storage, and I will not have them back for a long time. Happy holidays everyone! |
